Kelsey Burts
APC
Kelsey has a passion for serving others by creating an environment that nurtures love, acceptance, and healing. “Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.” - Anne Lamott.
Kelsey approaches therapy from a client-lead perspective. She hopes to create a safe space for individuals to work through their conflicts. Kelsey leads with empathy, authenticity, and care as she walks beside her clients. She has a deep passion for helping others and strives to always have a people-first mindset. She has an array of experience working with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, life transitions, trauma, grief, and chronic illnesses. Kelsey works with children, teens, adolescents, and adults.
Kelsey has dedicated extensive time to training in therapeutic approaches that promote trauma resolution. As a therapist trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), she helps individuals process and resolve traumatic memories. She firmly believes the mind and body are connected. Our brains are the powerhouses of our bodies. Kelsey believes it’s important for individuals to care for their minds, and she has a passion for helping others figure out how to do that. As a Christian, Kelsey is eager to introduce faith into the sessions when appropriate for the client.
Kelsey is currently an Associate Professional Counselor under the supervision of Heather Cobb, LPC, CPCS, and Kayla Lin, LPC, CPCS. Kelsey earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Georgia. She continued her education and received a Master’s and Education Specialist in Professional Counseling with an Emphasis on School Counseling from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). When Kelsey is not in session, she enjoys hiking, baking, quality time with her boyfriend, and spending time in nature. Kelsey also has a passion for photography.
Kelsey is looking forward to meeting you and helping you as you seek out hope and healing.
