License Eligible
Sondra works with adults, teens, couples, and families navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges. She believes in whole-person healing and uses a warm, collaborative approach to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can grow, build self-compassion, and live more authentic, fulfilled lives. She welcomes clients from all backgrounds.
Sondra is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy for healing from trauma, and considers it a privilege to walk alongside people as they work through trauma, depression, and anxiety. Her training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) incorporates parts work to help clients build greater compassion for themselves, and she draws on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals manage intense emotions and unhelpful thought patterns.
A special passion of Sondra's is helping couples and families strengthen their relational connection. She is trained at Level 3 in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), a direct and powerful model developed by Terry Real that helps couples improve communication, reconnect, and rebuild intimacy, and at Level 1 in the Gottman Method, a research-based approach to managing conflict and deepening connection. She helps couples recognize the patterns that strain their relationship and explore how past relationships shape the present, and she finds it deeply rewarding when people step out of old cycles and begin living more relationally. As a former educator, she loves teaching practical skills that strengthen bonds with others.
Sondra holds a master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. She previously earned a master's in educational administration from Concordia University Texas and a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. Sondra is a License Eligible Counselor working under the supervision of Garrett Thurman, LPC, CPCS.
Sondra lives in the Atlanta area with her husband, David, and their two teenage daughters. Outside of work, she enjoys running with her women's running group, hiking, traveling, exploring nutrition, and spending time with her 5-pound rescue chihuahua.
