EMDR Intensives
EMDR Intensive Therapy
For many people, weekly therapy is the foundation of their healing journey. An EMDR Intensive is not a replacement for that work but an opportunity to go deeper within it.
What Is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR Intensive follows the same evidence-based process used in traditional weekly sessions, but in an extended format that gives your brain more dedicated time to process and integrate difficult material. Many people find that this continuity allows them to experience more meaningful shifts in a condensed timeframe.
Who Is an Intensive a Good Fit For?
Intensives tend to work well for people who have already done some therapeutic work and feel ready to go deeper, those who find it difficult to reconnect with their process after a week away, people navigating a specific trauma or event they want to address more directly, and those who have limited availability for weekly sessions but can dedicate a longer block of time. A consultation is required before scheduling, which ensures the experience is set up for success from the start.
How an Intensive Differs from Weekly Therapy?
Weekly therapy provides something an intensive cannot: the ongoing relationship, continuity, and steady support that builds over time. For this reason, we recommend that clients who pursue an intensive also have a consistent therapist they are working with, either at Path to Change or elsewhere, who can support them before and after the experience.
Insurance and Payment
Path to Change is a private pay practice. Because EMDR Intensives exceed the length of a standard reimbursable therapy session, they will not be reimbursed by insurance even with a superbill. We are happy to discuss fees and payment options when you reach out.
